The Eclipse Foundation introduced its' first developer release of the Eclipse Web services tools recently. As part of the Eclipse Web Tools Platform (WTP) Project, the new Web services tools are designed to help shorten development time, simplify the development of Java Web services, and automatically validate for conformance to industry standards.

Cape Clear Software ha annunciato un aggiornamento della propria piattaforma di integrazione di servizi Web che supporta la creazione, il deploy e la gestione dei processi di business: "The new capability in Cape Clear 6 uses the Business Process Execution Language 1.1 standard, officials with the Waltham, Mass.-based, company said. In addition, the upgrade introduces support for Web Services-Reliable Messaging, an industry standard that enables guaranteed messaging over the Internet, and service-oriented integration for large-scale databases."

Application firewall vendor NetContinuum Inc plans to build web-services firewalling technology from Forum Systems Inc into its line of security appliances.

The proposed web services edition of the NetContinuum NC-1000 Application Security Gateway ASIC-based appliance will offer an extra layer of defense against XML data and application-layer attacks, the vendor said.

Radicati Group's "Web Services Market 2004-2008" reports that the combined market for Web services solutions, management, integration and security will be worth $950 million in 2004. By 2008, that figure will climb to $6.2 billion."
